I have never used Priceline to make any travel arrangements. It seemed too much trouble to get a blind "possible" good deal. However, I came across this article on WalletPop about evening the playing field. Basically there are sites out there that reveal what people have gotten on Priceline. Visit a few of them when you start your search to find out what has worked for others.

I love Priceline - especially for rental cars since you can reserve for the actual time and date you will need it. Airlines are a bit different, but if you've done the homework on what flights are when and assume you will get the most unfavorable time currently listed, it is a fair way to get a better price.
Christina, good to know you have a success with Priceline. I will be checking them out in the future.
