Not a Good CVS Coupon 1/15/2009

I don't usually post links to CVS coupons because more than likely they are unauthorized postings. In fact I just try to ignore them. When there was so much buzz about the most recent $3 off $15 coupon expiring 1/17 I decided to see if I could download the coupon for myself from the Baltimore online paper which I could and you still can today.

I thought that since I could get to the coupon from the original source not needing to be a subscriber to the paper that it was a legitimate coupon. Turns out it's not. If you call CVS corporate they should let you know that the coupon was not authorized to be included in the online version of the paper and their general policy is not to accept coupons printed from any site other than CVS/or a coupon directly emailed to you from CVS. So why is the coupon still up? I don't know and they could not tell me. They are looking into it.

The second issue with this coupon is that it could be printed multiple times. The coupon clearly states One Per Customer. Just because you can does that mean you should? The Thrifty Mama puts is this way: If just 500 people each used the coupon 10 times, that's $15,000 that CVS would loose. Sad to say I know this coupon has been used a lot more than that just by the shopping scenarios people are posting about.

To be on the safe side of honest and responsible couponing don't use any CVS coupons not sent directly to you from CVS. I apologize for posting how to find it here.

You can read the post by the Thrifty Mama on the subject here.
